Hodgepodge on Wednesday
1. Have you ever spent time on a farm? Tell us a little bit about it. Have you ever grown your own pumpkin? Been on a hayride? Driven a tractor? Milked a cow?
I have ridden a tractor before which was a lot of fun to do, but I haven't done any of the others, and I have no desire to milk a cow, it is "udderly" disgusting to me.
I would like to have more Bible studies, time to plan out holidays and gifts, and read books. The things I would like to do less often are slumping, talking too quickly when I am excited, and Pre-Algebra.
4. What's on your nachos?
Well, if I liked nachos ... cheese, and chili beans, I am not that fond of other toppings.
5. What's the most random thing in your purse or wallet? Does it need to stay there?
Homemade invitations, I would like them to stay there, mostly because they are pretty, and because I like random objects in my purse.
6. Insert your own random thought here.
Thinking about going downstairs at midnight, turning on my keyboard, have the volume turned up very loudly, wear something long, flow-y and elegant, and play an epic song on it would be fun, though my family wouldn't be overly appreciative of it, I fear.

2. What's something younger you would like about you now?
Younger me would be pleased to know that I am able to finally do the Y-scale after all the years of trying and failing.
3. What are three things you'd like to do more often? Three things you'd like to do less often?

Wednesday Hodgepodge
1. We've reached edition number 315 here in the Wednesday Hodgepodge. So tell us, what were you doing at 3:15 yesterday? Is that typical? On a scale of 1-10 (with 1 being low and 10 being high) what's your energy level usually like at 3:15 PM?
I was on the living room couch copying my diary because all the pages have been falling out, it has been very typical to work on copying it every afternoon since there are so many entries. Copying my diary normally wears me out so I don't have much energy to spare to do anything else.
2. A frisbee, a tantrum, a towel, a party, a punch, or a curveball...which have you most recently thrown or had thrown at/for you? Elaborate.
A towel, Piper had thrown a towel at me yesterday to put away after we folded a batch of laundry.
3. What are three things that would help you right now. Tell us how or why.
Socks, chocolate, and music, socks because it is very cold right now, chocolate, because I'm really hungry and it sounds good, and music to cheer me up on this drab cold day.
4. Do you think you're strong? Why or why not? What makes you strong?
I can be strong in a few different ways, like willpower (keeping myself from eating Piper's cookie)
I've been told I'm freakishly strong physically, but there are still things I can't lift, so until then I won't call myself that.
5. Do you enjoy reading historical fiction? What's your favorite book set sometime in the past?
Yes, I love reading historical fiction books. What used to be my favorite books set in the past were Little House on the Prairie series and Life with Lily series, I still enjoy reading them.
6. Insert your own random thought here.
School is starting really soon for us, and I am hoping the weather will warm up some more so I can live up the last few days of summer break while I still have the chance.

Rainy Day Activities
Last week on a rainy day I was quite un-entertained with most of the books in the house. Everything I considered reading sounded boring. Nothing else seemed to catch my attention either, so I often found myself digging through my craft drawer trying to find something to do and I came across a catalog that had pictures of people on almost every single page, so I decided to indulge in one of my favorite childhood activities once again, take out my markers and deface them all. It felt like the perfect little thing to do on such a rainy day.
I have found it very enjoyable to deface every single person in the catalog, and have considered making it more of a hobby rather then just something to do when it is too wet to go outside. There's something strangely satisfying about it and I really can't recommend it enough.
Amazing how different she looks with some blush, a bad hair dye job, reshaped eyebrows and a missing tooth.
Poor Penny had no idea when she modeled for the catalog that she would be providing me with so much fun and amusement as I did a before and after on her face.

Playing Piano
Last Christmas was the most wonderful Christmas that I ever had. Mum and Dad had given me what I had wanted for the longest time, my very own keyboard. The air filled with my squeal of delight when I tore open the wrapping paper and realized what it was.
But then Mum told me she had also signed me up to take piano lessons. I wasn't too sure if I would like that, in fact I was horrified. As much as I had always wanted to play a piano, I had never really thought of the lessons it would take to be able to play it.
We had no idea where my piano teacher lived but, she gave Mum directions, and told us to enter her house through the French doors at the front. I immediately had lovely visions of a grand house, and even though the thought of piano lessons scared me I was looking forward to sweeping regally through those French doors.
We had a bit of a problem finding her house the first time, and arrived five minutes late, which was nerve wracking because we always try to be on time or a few minutes early where ever we go.
Her house was nothing like I had imagined, and I was kind of disappointed by her French doors, they were just two normal doors put together. She opened the door, and I don't know how I managed to get to the chair she requested me to sit on, I felt like I had jelly legs.
Her piano was gorgeous though it was brown and big, the keys were very satisfying to play, and the sound was beautiful.
I have learned a lot, and by now I'm thrilled that my mother had signed me up. Playing piano has become my passion, I have been picking out songs and getting requests from my family and best of all, I get to play a song on the piano at our homeschool group's end of the year variety show in a few weeks.

Adventures in my Flip Flops.
I love my flip flops and with the weather warming up I have been thinking of them fondly and remembering some adventures I had in them last summer.
Piper and I had been searching for the perfect picnic place for my birthday. We were roaming the woods and fields and looked out over the edge of a cliff. The scene before us was beautiful. There was a lake, pine-trees, and a beech tree that made it look like the positively perfect picnic spot if only we could find a safe way down over the cliff. With some searching we found one. Piper and I had an awful time trying to get down to our much wanted destination, my flip-flops didn't have much grip at all, so I was sliding all over the place. I kept falling down on anything that was particularly slippery, Piper wasn't faring much better in fact I was still more lucky than she was, she got scrapes and bruises all over her legs. But it was all worth it when we came to the picnic spot, it was even more beautiful than it had appeared from the top of the cliff. We managed to place a rotting log across the water to a quaint little island near the shore and Piper helped me and my already slippery flip-flops across the log to the island. The lake was beautiful, and worth all the effort of climbing down the cliff. We decided this would be the picnic spot although I knew better than to wear my flip-flops down there again.
Another one of my adventures that I had with Piper and my favorite flip-flops was much more exhilarating than my first! Mom, Jay, Piper, and I were going for a walk up to the fields behind the barn. We noticed that the barn roof was really close to the ground and since we thought it would be thrilling to stroll across a barn roof we acted on our whim. Piper went up first and than I nervously stepped on a stack of rocks and heart beating so fast that it felt like its home was in my throat and I couldn't swallow, I climbed up onto the roof and walked over to Piper who was fearlessly standing there. My eyes opened wide and I clung onto her for my dear life. I had already found out that my flip-flops didn't have much traction, so I didn't enjoy myself nearly as much as I could have, my Mom told us to be careful and come back down, but still took some pictures. I'm pretty sure that I looked scared in all of them while Piper looked cool, calm, and invincible. I was quite glad to get back on the firm ground again, for there I could finally breathe again.
We've been told not to climb on there again and I'm really quite fine with that. I'll seek adventures in my flip flops elsewhere.
Here's a picture of Piper and I climbing the roof.

Introduction
Hello and welcome to my little blog, Chickadee's Chirpings. Today I will be doing an introduction of my wonderful family and myself. I like birds, so I decided to pick a bird name for each of us that we will be known by on this blog.
My father will be known as Owl because he's so wise and calm and awesome. He is a mechanic, has his own business of fixing up semi trucks. He is a great father, he can always make me laugh, and he is such a wonderful friend to everyone. It's impossible to scare him and I've kind of made it one of my missions in life to be the one to scare him. I've failed dismally so far.
My mum will be Wren, she is the amazing author of my all time favorite series of books The Adventures of Lily Lapp, (I've read them eight times already) She is a wonderful teacher who keeps learning fun, and is one of my very best friends I could ever dream of having. She is supportive of my dreams, schemes, and crazy plans. She is a great listener and advice giver.
My sister is Sand-piper but I think I will be calling her Piper for short, she is a wonderful baker, wishes to someday own her own bakery, she can make almost anything sound fun and because of that we have had many harebrained adventures together. She is very smart, and she is the best sister that I could ever wish for.
My older brother will be known as Robin I may or may not decide to shorten it to Rob later on. He is a strong loving brother that helps with my father's business, he is a wonderful helping hand, and he always finds time to hang out with his younger brother, and will clear the table after meals for Piper and I quite often. He's also the co-host with yours truly on a fun little "radio program" we do during the winter months, and chief journalist and editor of the Pocahontas Gazette.
And my younger brother I just mentioned will be known as Blue Jay, very likely to be shortened to simply Jay in the future. He loves helping everyone, he loves making people laugh with his beyond corny jokes, baseball is his favorite game and he's pretty good at it. He loves thinking he's a chef and always wants to help baking and cooking.
And then myself Chickadee, because they're such cheerful little birds. I have always had a liking for dance and gymnastics. I have always loved piano especially since I am learning how to play it, I like crafting and learning new things, I have a fascination with Marine Biology, I'm not too fond of uneven numbers, and spiders are the absolute worst. I love to write stories and keep journals. I'm looking forward to chirping about my life and everything it is here on my blog.
